A while back we covered the
Gemsta Sony Vaio P clone, an Intel Atom Z based netbook that as you would imagine sold for a fraction of the Sony original. Well today we're back with a variation on that same theme. This little gem also takes inspiration from the Sony Vaio P series netbook but opts instead for even more vanilla specifications in a thicker, chunkier chassis design that makes it a far cry from the dainty yet classy original.
When you look at netbooks, clones or otherwise, the Intel Menlow platform is the undisputed processor platform king. If you're talking affordable, small with decent battery life, you're almost certainly talking about an Atom series processor and by far the most common and ubiquitous of those has to be the Intel N270 and its 945GS buddy. So it comes as no surprise to see this clone also opts for the most vanilla of vanilla platforms.
The 1.6GHz Intel N270 platform is accompanied by a 10.1 inch backlit screen (1024×600 res), the aforementioned chipset and its corresponding GMA950 graphics, 1GB of DDR2, a 160GB hard drive, card reader, Wi-Fi, an Ethernet port and 2 USBs. As if you couldn't have guessed all that already. You get a fashionably quaint chiclet keyboard with an IBM-styled red noodle in the middle of it. Dimensions read like this: 288×151×31 mm, weighing in at 1.1g kg. No word on price yet.

Conclusions:
I'm almost always favorable towards a clone product that takes a good idea and innovates on or around it. In the markets of Shenzhen there are myriad examples of this. In regard to this Vaio P clone however, I'm finding it a struggle to say anything positive. What can I say? It's thicker, uglier, clunkier and uses a cheaper and very unexciting hardware spec. I guess, all that remains is to say that for this device to excel, it'd better be cheap as peanuts. And by the way, I can't stand white!!
