KTNO2-top
With the huge amount of competition between notebook manufacturers in Shenzhen, we’re beginning to see a few go the extra mile to help them stand out from the crowd. Kivu Technology Co. is one such company and has just launched an innovative new netbook – the G-Five KTNO2 - that offers consumers a greatly improved aerodynamic performance.

KTNO2-1

Very attractive with its brushed stainless steel chassis, the key feature is the teardrop shaped hinge that allows the netbook to open well past 90 degrees, and when closed operates like an aircraft’s wing (on which it was modeled) providing lift when it is being carried, thereby reducing the effective weight of the device.

KTNO2-5

Specs:
Processor: 1.6GHz Intel Atom
Memory: 1GB DDR2
HDD: 160GB
Display: 10.2” 1024 x 600 LCD
Ports: 2xUSB, VGA, 3G SIM slot, card reader, RJ45
Other: Bluetooth, 1.3Mp camera
Dimensions: 265 x 193 x 23.5mm
Weight: 1.26kg (0.90kg if user is moving)

KTNO2-superman
Unlike when he is carrying other netbooks, with the KTNO2 Superman is able to maintain his >= a speeding bullet velocity.

Western Opportunity Analysis:

Kivu insists on using reputable, first-class material and parts providers, and their whole manufacturing process is quality controlled. They also have a solid after-sales service program, which is quite a rare feature for a shanzhai player. There’s no doubting the KTNO2 is a great looking device, and the brushed stainless steel finish lends it a bit of class. The decent hardware (which can be easily accessed and upgraded through the back panel) and extensive port selection mean this will undoubtedly prove to be a popular product in Western markets.

KTNO2-3

KTNO2-6

KTNO2-7

Conclusions:

No word on pricing yet, but Kivu's contact details are on the G-Five website if you’d like to get hold of the KTNO2 for a test flight.

But I carry my netbook vertically... I fear I will veer off the pavement and suffer a nasty accident under the wheels of a bus!

Yeah, you should be careful of that. Make sure you carry it in the hand farthest away from the road. I guess the manufacturer should put a warning on the netbook to that effect.
